Spelling
Walks through the misspellings you always make, one word at a time. You say yes or no. It is your own list of habits, not a spell checker.
Press the letter right after Ctrl+T and it runs at once. Pause instead, and the list appears. Needs a file open.
Get it on your BYOK
spelling.lua
spelling.dat
- 1Download both files, the first time.
- 2Put them in the Scripts folder on the BYOK's card.
- 3Restart the BYOK, then press Ctrl+T.
Already using this tool? Keep your spelling.dat. It is your word list, including any words you added.
The data file is plain text. If you are comfortable editing files on a computer, that is often faster than doing it on the BYOK.
How to use it
Offers to fix the misspellings you always make. One word at a time, you say yes or no, and it does the rest.
Using it
Press Ctrl+T, then z.
It looks through your whole file for the words in its list. Then, for each one it found:
recieve -> receive
3 times
word 1 of 4
Y fix N leave ESC stopPress Y to fix every one of them, N to leave that word alone, Escape to stop. When you've answered for each word, the fixes are made and you're told how many: 7 of 7 fixed.
Your own list
The words live in spelling.dat on the BYOK's card, one per line as wrong | right. There is no built-in list. The file is the list. Edit it on a computer to add the two words you always get wrong.
Two rules for what to put in:
- Only words that are always wrong. Anything you might have typed on purpose doesn't belong.
- Long enough not to hide inside other words.
otwould match insidelotandanother. The tool checks each word against your actual writing and refuses to fix anything it can't do safely. You'll see2 of 3 timeswhen some copies are buried in longer words, so a bad entry costs you that entry, never your prose.
- Good to know
- It cares about capitals. Teh at the start of a sentence is left alone.
- When it finishes, the last word it looked at is left selected. Press an arrow key before you carry on.
- If a word isn't in your list, it won't be found. This fixes your habits. It is not a spell checker.
- What it can touch
A tool can only do what is listed here. Nothing else. This one can:
- Read the document: Read your file and what you have selected
- Change the document: Insert or replace text in your writing
- Move you in the document: Search and jump to a match
- Read what it has saved: Read its own notes or shortcuts
- Show a message: Put a one-line message on screen
- Take over the screen: Only for tools you run when you ask
- Write a log: For diagnosing a problem. You will not see this while you write
